My fellow prophets,
Well, it’s the 4th Wednesday, and you know what that means. It’s our favorite time of the month, Grotto time! Although last month’s meeting was short and sweet, it did give us some serious food for thought, and something to seriously ponder. I am referring to the announcement from our District Deputy Cunningham, that Zula Grotto would very likely be folding in the near future, due to lack of membership, and lack of interest. This is especially troubling, because a few of us took a trip to Zula a few years back for a visit. Had you told me at that time, that 2 years later Zula Grotto wouldn’t exist, I would have never believed you. The energy and passion these Prophets had was amazing! They had a great home-cooked dinner prepared, full bar at their disposal. They had older members, as well as quite a few younger ones. I think that we left the Zula meeting a little bit envious at the excitement they had going on there. And here they are, a few short years later, and it could be over. While I wish there was something we could do to help, the reality is, we should take this as a lesson learned. Let’s do our best to bring in a few new members, and encourage our existing members to attend when they can.
Cinema has made it through 70 years, thick and thin at times I’m sure. Currently, we are going strong, and sometimes our meetings have more attendance than Blue Lodge. But let’s be vigilant, and see to it that Cinema makes it through another 70 years. It’s up to us, and we can do it.
Yours in Fellowship,
Monarch Chad Goertz
