Prophets and friends,
As a relatively new dad, Father’s Day means a lot to me. Yes, having a day dedicated to doing your duty as a father is great. But, what is most important to me is the being able to celebrate my own father, who really helped shape the man I am today. I found a very touching poem, written by another Mason, Carey Martin, that is worth sharing:
Father’s Day
What do you say to someone
who has been one of the most essential parts of your world;
someone who took you by the hand when you were little
and helped to show the way?What do you say to someone
who stood by to help you grow,
providing love, strength, and support
so you could become the person you are today?What can you say to let him know
that he’s the best there is,
and that you hope you’ve inherited
some of his wisdom and his strength?What words can you say
if you ever got the chance?Maybe you just say
I love you Dad…And hope he understands.
Apart from Father’s Day, what else is great about June? Well, our monthly meeting of course! June 25th at Old West Lodge. Yadda yadda yadda.
In July, for our dear friends at a nearby United Cerebral Palsy home, we will be holding a fundraiser at our favorite post-meeting hangout, Chi Chi’s Pizza. The goal is to raise funds to purchase an awning that will cover the patio. This, in effect, will allow the residents to enjoy themselves without worrying about the weather. I’ll forward all the date/time information once it has been finalized. This event will be done in coordination with Job’s Daughters – Bethel 249. So, it should a whole lot of fun. Thanks all!
Yours in Fellowship,
